The Shape of Silver : Two videos / by Leslie Iwai

I am excited to share two videos below…. The first one is about my solo exhibit and the second shares the experience from both student and faculty perspectives. Check out these lovely videos produced by staff from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse! More info below the links. I am so grateful for the documentation of this special experience.

Last Spring (2022) I had the pleasure of working with students, staff and faculty from the University of Wisconsin LaCrosse as a featured artist for the art department’s annual Creative Imperatives event for art students. For this event I showed my ongoing, growing body of work from Winter’s Spring: An Ältere Garten. As I wrote in my previous journal entry, I am always excited to see what is coming up in this garden. With this in mind, I developed the design for The Shape of Silver, a series of cloud mobiles made from large screen printed paper, suspended from steel rods and fishing tackle.

One of the best parts of this experience was working to develop the construction processes that would be needed as I was relying on students to help bring this vision to fruition. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing this process unfold and the opportunity to interact, instruct and encourage art students was a complete joy.
